Hi! I’m Mark Berkers, born in 1987 in what’s known to be the Design Capital of the Netherlands, Eindhoven. Contradiction would be my middle name being the chaotic, loud yet minimalistic art-director and designer that I am!
After graduating as a chef (2000) and event manager (2004) I attended the Design Academy in Eindhoven (2008). Where I specialized in graphic design and communication design. The department Man and Communication provided a broad and holistic literacy in visual communication.
There I was encouraged to employ visual communication as a mode of discourse and a means of developing a personal, social and/or cultural identity. It reflected the multidisciplinary and ever-changing nature of contemporary communications while covering 2D and 3D design, graphic design, illustration, moving-image and new media.
The pivotal concern of all projects was content and messaging: What is it saying? And why are things the way they are?
With that vision I moved to Berlin where I worked as an Assistant creative director at Zirkumflex a design studio and project platform.
After graduating in 2012 I moved to Amsterdam where I started working as a Graphic and motion designer and Concept Developer at Vechtlust. At this moment I’m working as an Art-director.
